Introduction

The County of Wise was created and organized from Cooke County in 1856. Named for the Virginian, and US Senator Henry A. Wise who favored annexation of Texas. Wise is located in North Texas. The county seat is located in Decatur. Thus far we have only found the following TOTTY & related families in this county.

Note: [BTM[ Elisha Auston RODGERS and Nancy Ann Marshall were the parents of Thomas Albert RODGERS aka ROGERS. They migrated to Wise County from Calloway County, KY where most of their children were born. Their grand daughter Hattie Lee RODGERS aka ROGERS married Green Whitfield TOTTY.   Green W. TOTTY was the son of John Whitfield TOTTY and Sarah Ellen YANDELL.

Note: [BTM] Son of Elisha Austin and Nancy Ann (Marshall) ROGERS. He was born March 20, 1870 in KY. James was the Uncle of Hattie Lee Rogers TOTTY, wife of Green Whitfield TOTTY.

1883 October 3rd Death Elisha Austin RODGERS in Aurora
Note: Elisha Austin RODGERS was the grandfather of Hattie Lee Rogers/Rodgers TOTTY, and father of my grandfather Thomas Albert Rogers/Rodgers. Elisha was married to Nancy Ann Marshall in Carroll Co., Tennessee. Nancy and Elisha are both buried next to each other in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery #2, in Aurora. see the TOTTY Roots cemetery web page.

1885 August 26th Marriage T. A. ROGERS to G. A. JENNINGS, in Aurora
Note: [BTM] Thomas Albert ROGERS married Georgia Anna, daughter of George W. and Elizabeth Caroline (Stephens) JENNINGS and granddaughter of Abner and Chloe Farris (Lester) JENNINGS. His daughter and my grandmother was Hattie Lee Rogers who married Green Whitfield TOTTY. Thomas was the son of Elisha Austin and Nancy Ann (Marshall) ROGERS, s/o Canstriel B. and Frances D. ROGERS, s/o Elisha and Polly (Oakman) ROGERS, s/o Adam and Lynda ROGERS, s/o Timothy and Lydia (Hatch) ROGERS, Lynda was the d/o Samuel and Experience (Thomas) ROGERS. Timothy was s/o Timothy and Eunice (Stetson) ROGERS, s/o John and Ann (Churchman) ROGERS, s/o Thomas and Eleazer (Cosford) ROGERS who came over in the MAYFLOWER from England. Copy of Marriage License in my file.

Note: [BTM] William B. Rogers was the son of Elisha Austin and Nancy Ann Marshall ROGERS. Bill married last to Margaret Mary Ann JENNINGS, sister of Georgia Anna JENNINGS who married Thomas Albert ROGERS, both my Aunts and Uncles on the Rodgers/Rogers and Jennings line. see above

Notes: [BTM] Nellie Mae was the daughter of Thomas Albert and Georgia Ann (Jennings) RODGERS/ROGERS. Sister of Hattie Lee Rogers who married Green Whitfield TOTTY, my great grandparents and grandparents respectively. The Rodgers aka Rogers surname was spelled both ways interchangeably. Originally spelled Rogers and later many descendants used the spelling Rodgers.

1889 August 5th Birth Hattie Lee ROGERS
Note: [BTM] Hattie Lee was the sister of Nellie Mae above. Daughter of Thomas Albert and Georgia Ann (Jennings) RODGERS aka ROGERS. Hattie Lee married Green Whitfield TOTTY in Commanche Co., OK on August 5th 1908. She died on March 19th 1976 in Napa, Napa Co., CA. She is buried with her husband Green Whitfield TOTTY in the Tulocay Cemeter in Napa, CA.

1889 Febraury 2nd Birth Maude Bethel ROGERS
Note: [BTM] Sister of Hattie Lee Rogers TOTTY above, and Great Aunt to Birdie Totty McNutt the compiler. Maude Bethel ROGERS later married John S. RICHARDSON. Maude died in Kern Co., CA.

1892 January 22nd Birth Troy Wilber ROGERS in Decatur.
Notes: [BTM] Troy died in Grady Co., OK and is buried with his wife Dora E. (Wade) RODGERS in the Bradley Cem. He was the son of William Bethel and Mary (Baker) RODGERS, brother of Thomas Albert ROGERS, father of Hattie Lee and the grandfather of Birdie TOTTY McNutt.

1894 January 7th Marriage Charles ROGERS to Maggie Phillips, in Decatur
Note: [BTM] Uncle of Hattie Lee Rogers TOTTY, brother of Thomas Albert Rogers, son's of Elisha A. and Nancy Ann (Marshall) ROGERS aka RODGERS.

1895 May 6th Birth William Ervin Austin RODGERS, in Decatur
Note: Son of William B. and Mary (Baker) RODGERS. He is buried in Bradley Cemetery. He married Caroline Stidham.

1895 September 25th Birth Minnie Bessie ROGERS
Notes: [BTM] Sister of Hattie Lee ROGERS (later TOTTY) above, and my Great Aunt. She married Herbert John HAWK on Apr 2nd, 1919 in Easland Co., TX.

1898 June 8th Birth George Miller RODGERS, in Decatur
Note: [BTM] George is the s/o William B. and Mary (Baker) RODGERS. He died in Grady Co., OK on Nov. 23, 1977. Cousin of Hattie Lee ROGERS above.

1898 July 8th Birth Laura Elizabeth ROGERS in Boyd.
Note: [BTM] Sister of Hattie Lee Rogers, (later TOTTY) above. She was married first to Charles Columbus Collins and 2nd to Fredrick Clarence Theodore SCHNEIDER. She died in January of 1984 and is buried in Bexar Co., TX. Her father Thomas Albert ROGERS aka RODGERS was next found in the 1900 census of Montague Co., TX.

Notes: [BTM] Nancy Ann (Marshall) RODGERS was the widow of Elisha Austin ROGERS. They were the parents of Thomas Albert ROGERS/RODGERS, his daughter Hattie Lee ROGERS married Green Whitfield TOTTY, son of John Whitfield and Sarah Ellen (Yandell) TOTTY Hickman Co., TN, Montague Co., TX, & Sebastian Co., AR.   Nancy died Apr 14, 1924 and is buried in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery #2, next to her husband Elisha, she only has a rock marking her burial site, next to her husband Elisha's Stone. He died October 3rd 1883 in Auora, Wise Co. Elisha was born January 14th 1841 in Carroll County Tennessee as the 5th child of Canstriell B. and Frances D. ROGERS. Son of Elisha and Polly (Oakman) ROGERS who died in 1816 in Wilson Co., TN. The father of Nancy was John Niel and Nancy (Unk) MARSHALL.
