Introduction
![]()
The County of Hickman was created in 1807 from Dickson County, Tennessee. The County of Dickson was created in 1803 from Montgomery and Robertson County, Tennessee. Montgomery and Robertson County both were created in 1796 and were part of the original County of Tennessee created in 1788 and surrendered the name when the State of Tennessee was created in 1796. North Carolina ceded Tennessee [Washington County 1777] to the United States in 1784 to secure federal protection in the area. After the federal Government refused to acknowledge cession, the people of Tennessee organized the State of Franklin, which lasted only 4 years when NC again gained control of the area in 1789. They again ceded the area to the United States in 1789, thereby forming the Southwest Territory in 1790.

Mary Ann Easley in 1781 in Halifax Co., VA as documented on our Halifax
web page. Who was the first? wife of Daniel or the name of Moses
Parker's mother? Was he a son of Daniel or maybe some other
kinship? Research still in progress. This was most
likely the same Moses who was Administrator to Daniel PARKER's estate as
shown below.
