The County of Denton was created from FanninCounty in 1846, and organized the same year.    Denton is located in North Central Texas and was named for pioneer minister John B. Denton.  The county seat is located in Denton.  Thus far we have only found the following  TOTTY & related families in this county.

Notes:   Elizbabeth Menasco SHEEGOG was the wife of Edward SHEEGOG, son of James E. and Louisa ESTES SHEEGOG, daughter of Matilda Easley Estes TOTTY and s-dau of Robert of Halifax County, NC, Hickman County, TN and Montague Co., TX.   Elizabeth was the daughter of  Unnamed Menasco, her father who was killed in a Indian Attack January 1868 in Rosston, Texas.    Elizabeth Menasco SHEEGOG was also captured in the same Indian Attack, along with her children who were captured and killed.   Edward was on the 1860 census for Cooke County page 257, HouseHold 533/553.    Nannie J. Sheegog was the dau of Edward and Elizabeth.



1992 December 28th  Death  of Ruby Ann ROGERS HODGES
Notes:  Ruby ROGERS HODGES was the sister of Hattie Lee ROGERS TOTTY and s-i-l of Green Whitfield TOTTY.   She was married to Ben WIlliam HODGES in 1928.

   DEATHS
RUBY HODGES
   Ruby HODGES, 84, of Denton, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1992, in Denton Regional Medical Center.
   She was born June 12, 1908, in Indian Home, Okla.  Her husband of 57 years, Ben HODGES, is deceased.
   Mrs. HODGES was a member of Cooper Creek Baptist Church.
   Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Schmitz-Floyd-Hamlett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bobby BRYAN officiating.  Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
  Survivors include four sons, Benny and William HODGES of Denton and David and Tommy HODGES of Amarillo; three daughters, Rachel WHEATON, Louise MULLINS and Wanda NATION, all of Denton; 29 grand children; 60 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Notes:  Ruby was born in Indiahoma, Commanche County, Oklahoma to Thomas Albert ROGERS and Geogia Anna JENNINGS ROGERS, her sister Hattie Lee ROGERS married Green Whitfield TOTTY in the same county.   Green Whitfield TOTTY was born in Mansfield, Sebastian Co., AR to John Whitfield and Sarah Ellen YANDELL TOTTY.   Margaret Mary Ann JENNINGS LEFORS ROGERS, the sister of Georgia Anna JENNINGS ROGERS and Aunt of Hattie Lee and Ruby ROGERS also married into this Rogers family, ie William Bethel ROGERS, brother to Thomas Albert ROGERS after her first Husband Thomas LEFORS died.   Family tradition was that William Bethel ROGERS was killed in Montague County by robbers.  However records have not been found on his death, research still in progress.   Ruby's grandparents George W. and Elizabeth Caroline STEPHENS JENNINGS are buried in Stephens Co., and Montague Co. TX respectively.
