The County of Red River was created as an original county in 1836, and organized in 1837.  It is a North East region of Texas.  The county is named for the Red River, it's northern boundary.  Clarksville is the county seat.  Other towns are Annona, Avery, Bogata, Deport and Detroit.   Thus far we have only found the following  records for the TOTTY families in this county.


Obituary of Earvon Thomas TOTTY
CLARKSVILLE, Texas - Earvon "Tom" TOTTY, 78, of Annona, Texas, died
Thursday, August 31, 2000, in a Bonham, Texas, nursing home.
   Mr. TOTTY was born Sept 14, 1921, in Red River County, Texas.  He was
retired from Red River Army Depot and Clarksville Police Department, a
Baptist, member of Avery Masonic Lodge #691, Hella Temple Shrine, Eastern
Star and Dallas Scottish Rite and an Army veteran of World War II.
   Survivors include his wife, Lucille WEEMES TOTTY of Annona; six sons, Irvin
TOTTY of Boxelder, Texas, Nathan Ray TOTTY of Mesquite, Texas, Donald TOTTY
of LaPorte, Texas, Don TOTTY of Newark, Texas, Harrell TOTTY of DeKalb,
Texas, and Darrell TOTTY of Palestine, Texas; one brother Winston TOTTY of
Annona; two daughters, Wanda COYLE of DeKalb and Sharron TREADAWAY of Avery,
Texas; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces
and nephews.
   Services will be 10a.m. Monday (Sept ? article undated) at Clarksville
Funeral Home Lindeman Chapel with the Revs. James Brown and Jimmie Woodard
officiating.  Burial will be in Avery Cemetery.

Notes:  Earvon "Tom" TOTTY was the son of Dessie (Garrison) and Winston Russell TOTTY, son of Mary Jane (Montgomery) and James B. TOTTY, son of Lucy Ann (Wilson) and Edward Oliver TOTTY, son of Agness (Dance) and Edward TOTTY, and grandson of Thomas TOTTY, son of Mary and Thomas TOTTY.  Lucille and Barbara WEEMS TOTTY were sisters.    Lucille WEEMES married Tom TOTTY and Barbara WEEMES married his brother Winston TOTTY according to birth records in Texas.  Totty researcher Johnnye TOTTY also obtained this information regarding the two sisters marrying TOTTY brother's from Don TOTTY, son of "Tom" TOTTY.
 
 

Obituary of Winston Herman Totty
[From Staff Reports, The Paris News, Published January 12, 2004]
CLARKSVILLE — Winston Herman Totty, 85, of Annona died Saturday, Jan. 10,
2004, at East Texas Medical Center in Clarksville.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, in Lindeman Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Keister and the Rev. James Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Garland Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 15, 1918, in Hope, Ark., the son of Winston Russell and Dessie Garrison Totty. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Annona. He was a member of Avery Masonic Lodge 912 for more than 50 years and was past master. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara E. Totty of Annona; three sons, Russell Totty and wife, Linda, of Keller, Curtis Totty and wife, Sandra, of Keller and Keith Totty and wife, Barbara, of DeSoto; daughter, Sue Foy and husband, Bill, of Keller; two sisters, Lorene Bush and Nella Jane Megason, both of Clarksville; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Justin, Larry, Randall, Matthew and Brad Totty, and Mark and Bill Foy. Honorary pallbearers are Renee Foy, Jerilyn Iliff, Jenifer Gary and Brooke Sills.

Note:  Winston Herman Totty was the brother of Ervon Thomas Totty mentioned above.  He was married to Barbara Ellen Weems.   Barbara Ellen Weems was the sister-in-law of Earvon Thomas Totty who was married to her sister.
