The County of Foard  was created & organized in 1891 from Hardman, Knox, King and Cottle Counties.      It is in the North West region of Texas.    Foard Co., was named for Major Robert L. FOARD of the Confederacy.  Thus far we have only found the following  records for the TOTTY families in this county.   Copper breaks State Park is across the county line 8 miles north of Crowell.    The water ways drain to North Wichita.   The county seat is located in Crowell, TX.

Notes: CM]  Willie Kennedy must be Mamie Ella Totty Kennedy.   Perry Hinkle is the eldest son of Amelia Ann Traylor Hinkle.  She is listed in this household as Amilia Posey.  She was first married to a Mr. Roberts, then she married Charles E. Hinkle, and later married Henry Posey.   Alta Toty was b. 1898 to Martha E. "Mattie" Hinkle, second child of Amelia
Ann Traylor and Charles E. Hinkle, and William Marion Totty, son of Rhoda and Frank Totty. She was also known as Willie.
This William Hanks is probably the son of William D. Hanks step-son of Elon Hinkle who married Jane Farley Hanks in Iowa, and are parents of Charles E. Hinkle.   Willie (Mamie Ella Totty) Kennedy was the first child of Mattie Hinkle and William Marion Totty.  She was born 1893.  Amelia Hinkle Posey reared both the girls after their mother died.  Why she took Willie's name at this time is anybody's guess.  I believe she was in the process of getting a divorce at this time.  Maybe she was hiding from her ex-husband?
Notes:  TD]  Hi Cyndy,   I see you found her.  I think you have the marriages reversed on Amelia Ann Traylor though.  She married 1st Charles E. Hinkle (bef. 1875 I really suspect around 1872 or 1873 because Montagues records don't begin until
1873), 2nd William Luther Roberts (1882), and 3rd Henry Posey(1891).  The William Hanks you refered to is William Austin Hanks s/o (you were right) William D. Hanks.   One of Hiram C. Whitley's girls, Elizabeth Ann Whitley married another of William D. Hanks sons, Joseph Richard Hanks.

to be continued
