The County of Union District South Carolina was created in 1798 from District 96.  The county seat is located in Union SC.  Some of the TOTTY families and their descendants lived and were found in records here.

before 1800  Migration  of  Abner TOTTY Family
Notes:  Abner was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia, and died 1811 in Georgia.   He was married to Mary WHITE on November 21, 1793 in Charlotte County, Virginia.  She was born in Virginia, and likely died in 1814 (she drowned in the Pacelot River while enroute to vidsit a sich friend submitted by  <marvadean@aol.com>.   Abner TOTTY and his family moved to Union District where they were found on the 1800 Census.   Their children are as follows: #1] Elizabeth "Besty" Totty,   b. Union Co. SC. #2] Thomas Totty  b. Union Co, SC, #3] Sarah (Sally) Totty  b. Jan. 3, 1807 Union Co. SC, #4] John Totty, #5] Abner Totty, and #6] Nancy Totty.    CLT adds that, My relative (now deceased) who compiled most of this information was still seeking proof at the time she gave this to me that the Abner Totty listed above as father was the son of William Totty, grandson of William Totty, and great grandson of Thomas Totty, all of Chesterfield and Henrico Co, VA. If you can verify this, I would appreciate any information you could throw my way. Thanks Cheryl TOTTY.

T000 TOTTY, Ollife                              #246      00110-21011-00
Notes:  Need Full transcription of these Census Records to show who the neighbors are.   Since Ollife, Abner, and William TOTTY live near each other they are likely from the same family.  Need more documentation.   One Olliff  TOOLEY was found in the Black Water Precinct,  Princess Anne County, Virginia in the 1783 census record with 3 whites and 2 blacks.  Also living nearby was Sarah TOOLEY with 6 whites and 6 blacks and Betty TOOLEY with 2 whites and 1 black.  This Olliff was gone before the 1785 census record was taken, could he be the same Ollife TOTTY found here in 1800?   Sarah and Betty TOOLEY were still in Black Water Precinct in the 1785 census, who were their spouses?

1811  Union County, South Carolina sale of property of Abner Totty. Mary Totty filed bond as Administrator with John Rae and Daniel Mahan as her sureties

1811-1814  James WHITE was awarded guardianship of the younger  TOTTY children following the death of Mary (White) TOTTY, and brought them to live with his family in Green County, Georgia.  The son of James White, James Thomas White, later married one of the TOTTY girles that his father had brought down from Union County, SC.
