The County of Yancey, North Carolina was created in 1833 from Buncombe and Burke Counties.  Buncombe from Burke in 1791 and Burke from Rowan Co., in 1777.  Rowan Co., was formed from Anson in 1753, Anson from Bladen in 1750 and Bladen was formed from New Hanover and Bath counties in 1734.  New Havover was formed from Craven Co., in 1729 which was fromed form Precinct of Bath in 1712.  The county of Bath was formed in 1693 and discontinued in 1739.    The County seat is located in Burnsville, NC.
