Totty  Roots

The County of Oregon was created in 1845 from Ripley County.  Ripley was created in 1833 from Wayne Co., and Wayne Co. was created in 1818 from Cape Girardeau County which was an original County.  Many of our Totty families still live in the county of Cape Girardeau.    The county seat is located in Alton, MO.

[BTM] Washington K. Trailor aka TRAYLER and Martha (Mariah) AIKMAN were the parents of Jesse Alford TRAYLOR aka TRAYLER listed in HH#229.  Jesse was the father of Barton Alton TRAYLER who married Matilda Jane TOTTY in Montague County, Texas.  Matilda Jane TOTTY was the daughter of Capt. F.M. and Rhoda (Spradling) TOTTY of Hickman and Warren Co., TN before migrating to Cooke Co., Texas in October of 1853 by wagon train.

[BTM] Jesse and Orleana later had a son born on Feb. 22, 1853 named Barton Aikman TRAYLER. Bart's middle name was in honor of his grandmother's maiden name AIKMAN.   Barton married Matilda Jane TOTTY in Montague Co., TX  on Dec. 5, 1875.
